Wedding party gifts

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

We all know that on a wedding day gifts are given to the couple getting married, but gifts are given to the wedding party as well.

In actuality, everyone in the wedding is gifted something, the transcendent maid, matron, bridesmaids, maid of honour, groomsmen, flower girls, ring bearer, ushers, and lower bridesmaids are all given gifts of gratitude from the newlyweds.

Acknowledgment should also be given to anyone performing a special service at the wedding, such as someone giving a reading.

The gifts should have the ring of being personally chosen to suit that individual in order to make them feel special about what they did to compliment your special day.  In the event that you give a gift that needs wrapping, choose the wedding colours in order to associate the present with their services.

You should include a personal thank you note with each gift given.  Express what a dear friend the person is and what a privilege it was to have them involved in your wedding.  Thank them for any special things they have done for you and your spouse, perhaps, he or she is the person who introduced the two of you.  Maybe you have become good friends through their previous acquaintance with your spouse.  In any event, make the note as individualized and special as you can.

Brides can offer the women some small trinket of jewellery as a commemoration, while grooms would offer the men something on the order of an engraved pen, a watch, a cigar, or a business card holder.

If you can give something engraved, it is a very good idea to have your names and wedding date inscribed on the gift. Whatever you give, make sure it is something tasteful that can be treasured for years to come.

People spending less on wedding gifts

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Research shows that wedding guests are tending to spend less on their gifts for the bridal couple than in 2008.  According to the research, guests spend on average about £28.96 per gift compared to £42.91 in 2008 which is a 34% decrease.

In order to check this out, a separate company took a look at PayPal wedding gifts, not including cash gifts, and although many customers did not pick up their gifts using PayPal the gifts was still in the Gift History.

Out of gifts that were purchased using British pounds, the average gift price on PayPal was £43.13 in 2009, but it actually increased over the last two years to £45.27 in 2009 and up again to £47.47 in 2010.

The same was true almost for US gifts with the average gift in 2008 costing $80.23 and then a slight decrease in 2009 to $78.52 followed by a quick jump again in 2010 up to $86.02.

Even more so, since PayPal started in 2007 gifts have been given to bridal couples in 11 different currencies with the Euro taking the clear lead in 2009 up to 97.77 euro.  The only gifts that had a lower value this year than in 2008 were purchased in Canadian currency.
