What to buy the woman who already has everything
Friday, July 8th, 2011
There are many women in today’s society, who act like magpies, and feel that they must compulsively buy anything that glistens in the sun. Although they have absolutely no need for the shiny thing, they now feel that they are prepared for any eventuality.
As a consequence of this compulsive buying, giving gifts is almost impossible, because they have everything that they want, and what they don’t have, they don’t want. This leaves the gift giver in quite a predicament, whether or not to get a gift certificate. With one of these endlessly useful tokens, the women can buy whatever her latest whim allows. Whereas, a materiel gift means she will either like it or not. The compromise is of course a gift certificate to a spa, a mix between the two, which will go down splendidly with the magpie in question.
Gift baskets, are inevitably the next idea to cross the mind of the gift giver. You can show how much you know about her by choosing her favourite scents or potpourri, while this is thoughtful and often well perceived, it is quite possible that the whole idea can be misconstrued and take to mean that either her or, he very shiny and sparkly house smells. So it is always better to give a gift basket with things in such as her favourite wine or chocolate as these always please. If all else fails, you could always fill the basket with shiny things.
Another great idea is antiques, although it is probably better to leave the buying of big pieces up to her, after all it is her house. You could buy here a collectible, something that you know that she likes, like first edition books, by her favourite author. Giving collectables makes the gift more personal, because it shows that you understand her taste. If you can’t decide what sort of collectable he would like the most just pick a piece of jewellery with a big shiny stone that should please her.
Something completely bizarre may be the road to take with the women who has everything. Bizarre can be anything, from something that she loved as a child like monopoly or boggle. Having everyone in the room laughing at her new present will make her feel good and like the present all the more. A little cuddly toy with great big eyes always goes down well with women, so that might be a good idea. Bizarre doesn’t have to mean unusual, just something that she would not expect, like a top with something rude or funny on it. At the end of the day, it does not really matter what the present is as long as she likes it and it doesn’t make her hate you, unless that is what you are after, of course.
