Choosing a baby gift
Saturday, October 23rd, 2010
The wonderful thing about choosing a baby gift is that it’s pretty hard to go wrong. Babies are usually not partial to a particular colour or brand name, and they really don’t care what you paid for their gift. You may not even know the baby’s gender, but that doesn’t matter either, unless you or the parents are really into sex differentiation by colour.
To keep it simple, basic necessities such as diapers, bottles, towels, washcloths, baby powder, lotion and shampoo, or bedding and sleepers are all fairly inexpensive and always appreciated. If you happen to be a knitter you can make any number of warm, soft and very useful items such as booties, hats and blankets. A mobile hanging over the crib is a fascinating diversion for most babies; cuddly toys are practically essential.
If your budget permits, consider a portable baby monitor, or perhaps a carry sling. A sling or front carrier is great for giving Mom some extra freedom of movement whilst establishing a special bond with her baby and a monitor may be just the ticket for parents’ peace of mind.
